The Get Paid To community has been in an uproar after the launch of a new rewards based site–Lockerz.
Questions have been brought up about the legitimacy of a site that rewards you for doing just about anything.
So what is Lockerz?
Lockerz.com is a brand new site that rewards you for just about everything you do. Registration is very easy and members can earn points extremely quickly. One of the main reasons why its popularity is spreading so rapidly is because it’s very easy to earn enough points to redeem a variety of merchandise. This includes MacBooks, Designer Handbags, Video Games, iPods, Nintendo Wiis and much more.
How it works
You can earn points in 3 ways:
1. Logging in each day.
2. Answering the question of the day.
3. Referring new members.
For example, in the first day alone, I got 23ptz through registration, 2 ptz for signing in, and another 2 ptz for answering the question of the day. All this for a grand total of 27pts! What does this all mean? Well, I can already redeem many videos games such as GTA4, which is priced 25pts!
Is Lockerz.com a legitimate website?
As a testament to the legitimacy of Lockerz.com, its CEO, Kathy Savitt, used to be Vice President at Amazon.com and the CMO at American Eagle. Lockerz.com major financial contributors is Liberty Media, which owns a major part of Time Warner, which is the firm that supports Bodybuilding.com and QVC.
Currently, Lockerz is in beta and access is invitation only.

I agree, I’ve been on there multiple times to earn points and check on the rewards. Nothing is ever available to redeem, not just 1 or 2 rewards are down but all of them.

I’ve been with Lockerz since its initial “closed beta” state. I’ve accumulated approx. 721 points. I redeemed them for an Apple iPod Touch 32Gb, and guess what?
I just received it today. My iPod Touch was sent to my home via UPS, and well within the 7-10 days they claimed it would take. (It took 6 days, to be precise.)
So, is Lockerz a scam? I’d have to say most certainly not.

I’m sure as time passes and they get out of the beta phase there will be very little to no delay in prizes. It seems like their stock capacity is very low right now, so things go quickly. By fall, their official launch period, I think things will be much more smooth…I suspect it will have to be, because they’re going to make the option to make monetary purchases on the site available.
The only reason the are always fresh out is because they restock on the 15th of every month and the prizes go fast
This is an amazing site! It really is! The concept is great, and you know it’s legit, but all the prices will be jacked up after the beta ends 🙁

I’ve ordered a Green Ripstik and it came yesterday.
Ripstiks are only 375 points, and I’ve been saving for about since it came out..

Lockerz is a 100% scam. It does not matter who is behind the company. The prizes are never available. Its easy to scam this site with fake emails. And there is no visible way for this site to make money. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.

Well, I just joined and I have not seen one single ad on Lockerz. John’s point holds true. All they do is give away electronics and whatnot. seems like a pretty big money sink to me. However, if they are backed by a huge corporation, it may be an investment in growing a large dedicated user base for other programs in the future. Right now though, all I can see them doing is spending lots of money and getting no return.
Lockerz gets its money from the questions you have to answer in order to earn points. A lot of the questions would make sense if you thought about them in the right way. One of them was, ‘What is the best game you’ve played in 2009?’ Lockerz could then sell the results of that question to a games company who would then find out what made that game so good, and begin work on a similar game.

Lockerz must be a scam, namely a pyramid scheme. The nature of these things is such that only the people who got in early can profit from them, and those at the latter stages get nothing. Lockerz own website’s FAQ states that the main way in which points are earnt is by inviting others. Thus it only works for those at the top of the pyramid, like “Bobdamnit” above, who was there since the beta stage.

I think you need to read what a pyramid scheme because you seem to have a very loose understanding of it.
Pyramid schemes working by getting people to recruit other people to boost their earnings. Not too mention they often make you pay something in order to start working for them like some bullshit training.
Lockerz does not work like this AT ALL. When you invite other people you get a bonus for each person you invite. An incentive to recruit more people. You do not get spoils from their efforts there on. You get the one time bonus and that’s it. I guess MMO’s and Gym memberships must be pyramid schemes according to your logic with incentive to recruit new members. Please…
Lockerz requires $0 money from you ever. You don’t have to fill out ANY promotional shit like most sites out there do for free stuff. You don’t even have to put in your shipping address up front. A valid email account and you name. NOTHING else. Nothing to where they could hunt you down, send telemarketers at you or anything. Zip zero nada… I’m still new to it and I can attest that they have zero information about me. I have a valid but “junk” email account I’m using. I keep my primary private always. They have none of my info. They’re gaining nothing from me if I continue to do this for years or stop tomorrow.
Also about the stock. The 15th of every month they restock their inventory. The reason you see everything is gone is because it is gone. Not a hoax or faux items you could buy. There’s 145k users and as soon as the restock is in it depletes due to all the users redeeming. So you have to wait till the next restock day.
thats right they never ask you for any money and any data untill you redeem. plus lots of people have redeemed.

It’s not a scam, I joined in August and logged in daily, answered the daily question, and referred a few freiends. Then on 9/15 the restock, I was lucky enough to get a PSP bundle which arrived on 10/1. It’s a great site.
To the person saying it’s a scam because they never have prizes…. hello? It’s a freakin beta. They have restock days. Just cause you didn’t manage to get anything on those days and you’re a sore loser doesn’t make the site a scam.

Well i just started using the site and I have to say. I got 37 points on the first day and invited 15 people.
Now of course you can’t get a game for less than 100 points anymore, but it only takes a little over 3 months to have 600+ points WITHOUT inviting friends. So the invitation feature greatly increases success, but isn’t the only way to get points.
And personally I’m going for the XBOX 360 Elite since I’ve been saving real money for one and a free one would be beneficial for me, my wallet, and my parent’s nagging.

Lockerz is definitely not a scam. It’s a website based around advertising revenue, which is why they can afford to give away so much cool stuff. I ordered a PS3 from them in the mail yesterday and I am so stoked! I have also gotten prizes from them before, like the cheeseburger flash drive and an iphone skin.

Lockerz is a stupid scam!!! The only thing that can be redeemed is stupid desktop backgrounds and donations which they probably wont even donate it that’s how you redeem it! I have read that it is beta till October 15! not true! lockerz claims that they sold out in hours!!! if this is true how did people get that many points if its still in beta unless the people are making hundreds of just by themselves to get points! that’s would be harder to do because as of right now its invite only and that would take along time to make fake emails and wait for invites! Some of you are just pessimists or skeptics. How would a pyramid scheme collapse if you can earn points without buying something? A pyramid collapse due to saturation with No earnings from money paying new recruits.
Analyze this. If all of us got into lockerz. Would we need new recruits to earn? I say NO because we earn PTZ by logging in and answering surveys.
I think lockerz is aiming to compete with amazon. thus, the need of followers.
I must say, from what I’ve seen(and heard) on blogs, this one included, it isn’t a scam. I don’t know anyone personally who’s recieved something from them, but they seem trustworthy. However, if they are a scam, and the only thing they achieve is selling your email what’s the harm? So you get a few contacts about money, if you’re smart, you’ll delete them without answering them. The only reason it would become anything more than a simple scam is if they sold your information(adress, name, etc). I’m saving up to hopefully get an iTouch, or a computer. So.. wish me luck :p.

Everyone apparently has no idea what they are talking about through this. I have received several items from Lockerz. It will not become public probably ever. The gentlemen who created the sites gain money through hits on there site from larger companies. They have nothing on there site currently because they do not have it in stock. It is not a scam, people just aren’t patient enough, and are able to do research to see that.
I was going to sign up for this after I got an invite but after reading Lockerz terms and conditions and doing more research, I think I’ll pass. I certainly won’t be giving them any of my private information. There’s only really a handful of ways for a net company like this to make money:
1. They collect and sell private data which you have to agree to opt in for when you sign up for an account which is sold to marketing companies.
2. They collect and sell email address to other spammers. (I don’t know that they do this, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
3. They run ads and/or scripts on their website designed to collect marketing info to be sold (most “free” to use sites do this, not saying it’s bad, just annoying)
4. They use viral marketing tactics to get kids on the internet to do their marketing work for them, (I’m not saying this is a bad thing either but that’s just how it works.)
5. They get people to fill out those questionnaires to also use/sell to marketing agencies. (probably how they make most of their money)
I’m not saying any of these things are illegal, or even necessarily unethical… I have no problem with advertising or marketing but personally I don’t feel like being bombarded with spam, telemarketing call, and junk mail. I get enough of all that crap as is. It almost equates to me as hold up a sign that says “dear marketing agencies: please spam the ever-loving hell out of me!”.
As for all of these youtube videos that people keep posting in blog comments and forums… I’ve noticed that most of the Youtube accounts that have posted these videos were made during and after the launch of Lockerz. Anyone can register a Youtube account and post a couple of videos so I hardly think that qualifies as proof that it’s legitimate. Maybe some of them are real, just saying it’s not something I’d claim to be “proof”.
I’m not going to go so far as to say it’s fake or illegitimate, but it’s certainly not for me. I don’t feel like doing some corporation’s dirty work for them and I certainly don’t feel like being someone’s test marketing guinea-pig. If they want to market new products and services then they can do it on their own time, free stuff or not.

Calling it a scam means you lose out on something…what on earth could you possibly lose from this? Oh no, they have your name. YOUR NAME. You can google yourself. If you have a myspace or a facebook, your name is all over the internet anyways, so what’s it matter?
IMO, all you people who are calling it a scam are just misinformed. It’s gathering information similar to facebook quizzes.

I do not work for Lockerz. I am just a 19 year old kid who found out about this site. It is VERY legit, i was skeptical and so were my friends at first. but on the first day, I recruited over 60 people to the website and was already on the Z-list. By the end of the month, I had 1000 points and I redeemed it for a number of things. They actually do send people stuff and the only reason why they would say that are out of prizes is becuase they only restock ONCE a month and the items go fast. No matter how shitty it is…people want that stuff. You have to be there the day they get the items to redeem the points for it, or you are out of luck.
Also, to all those out there saying that it is a scam…dont be mad because you got scammed before, it is not Lockerz fault..its YOURS! I find it funny that people would still yell “SCAM” even though there are thousands of videos out there of people recieving items from this site.

I just joined a couple hours ago and i have 17 points, i can not wait to try this. but i will have to like stay up until midnight because everything is gone so i assume because points are so easy to get, they go by fast!
Do you guys see that the website also has an option to give to charities? Don’t you guys think theres a reason for the inclusion of both free items and the chance to donate to numerous charities? I find it funny that people focus on the free items and dont mention the charities available. I’m not saying im going to donate all my points to the charities, but some of it will go there.
It is indeed a scam. I had enough points on the first day of the new releases, and I’m part of the few who gets first notice. Well, I log in, and when I refresh, magically they’re all gone but 87000 ptz ones. I have over 3k in points. I’ve been a member since August. I have never received a thing. Those who say they have are part of a marketing research type thing and are paid big to create youtube videos, etc. How do I know?
My mate confided in me (Matt.) That that ‘ipod’ he received was actually given to him to try and make it convincing. He breached his contract with them in telling me so and is now being legally pursued. Cheers.
I was sceptical at first all my friends kept telling me about it and I just thought it sounded bogus so I didn’t go on it. but that was until one of my friends came into school with his lockerz t shirt on. I know its only a t shirt but its still something. So I signed up and im now just waiting to see what its all about. But I think its based on ads. that’s why its free. Apparently the woman who is head used to be head of Amazon.com.
